Vancouver 2010 – Timelapse

January 27th, 2010 § 3

No comment.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing in regards to the rental unit at 123– 456 7th Ave New Westminster, A1B 2C4.

On February 1st, 2007, I moved into the aforementioned property. Since them, according to Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation report made public this  spring (http://www.cmhc-schl.gc.ca/odpub/esub/64487/64487_2009_B01.pdf), apartment vacancies rose to 3.3% compared to 1.8% in April 2008.  Economists and real estate experts predict the decline to continue through 2009-2010.

In our building that has meant facing empty units for several months. I ask that our rent should be lowered to $650/month from $675/month, at least for the next 12 months. This would satisfy your interest in keeping the unit occupied and our interest in staying in the apartment at a reasonable rate.

Also, I would like to use this opportunity to thank our building manager. We appreciate the friendliness and she has helped us until now, sometimes outside her working ours. She is great!

As one property manager recently told The Record: “If they’re good payers, I will give them a discount.” Here I am, good payer, asking for a reasonable discount. The $49 off the current rate is a fair request and will save you money (if you’ll keep the unit empty even for one month, you will be loosing $675, which is more than if you’d lower our rent with $25/month for one year)

Hoping that this makes perfect business sense, I look forward to continuing the conversation and hearing from you shortly. Please provide an answer as soon as possible, as depending on it we’ll decide to move or not.

Sincerely,

Olimpiada de iarna din 2010 fara zapada

January 22nd, 2010 § 0

Contingency plans are now being rolled out that include using straw and wood to build the base for the courses. Organizers will use trucks, snow cats and, if necessary, helicopters to move snow to the event sites.

“Do not have Pepsi or Dairy Queen sponsor your event,” read guidelines sent to Vancouver Public Library branch heads and supervisory staff last fall. “Coke and McDonald’s are the Olympic sponsors. If you are planning a kids’ event and approaching sponsors, approach McDonald’s and not another well-known fast-food outlet.”

The same care must be taken for audio-visual equipment. The branch should try to get devices made by official sponsor Panasonic. Should staff only be able to find Sony equipment, the solution is simple.
”I would get some tape and put it over the ‘Sony,’” Kavanagh said. “Just a little piece of tape.”

Where am I?
